Baked fried avocados: the alternative to the traditional fries

Now, let's face it. Everybody loves fries. You love them with your burger, you love them with your steak, heck you love them with your ice cream! Even though our subconscious is telling us we shouldn't eat them carbohydrate and fat rich fries, we just can't help it. It's too good. Now, I've tried making baked fries a couple of times. Although they were good, they were never as crunchy and scrumptious as your regular deep-fried fries. So I tried many alternatives to satisfy my craving for fries without having to feel guilty eating them. Baked fried avocado seems to be the winner. Since potatoes contain so much carbs and frying them produces so much fat, we need to find an alternative to both these components. Avocado is a fruit that is rich in many nutrients and fats that are good for you. And baking them makes it so much healthier and let's face it, you won't have to deal with oily fingers when you eat them! In this recipe, I didn't put any salt to season the baked avocado fries. Instead, I made a healthy aioli dipping sauce to give it that flavour it needs.

Ingredients:
- 1 whole avocado
- 1 egg
- all-purpose flour
- panko breadcrumb
- olive oil

For aioli sauce:
- 1/4 cup of greek yogurt
- 1/4 of lemon
- garlic powder
- onion powder

1. Cut the avocado into 2 pieces. Take out the seed and scoop the flesh inside, keeping them in an intact form. Cut them into long pieces, resembling of a fries.

2. Pour some all-purpose flour onto a plate. Roll the avocado pieces one by one in the flour. Make sure that the avocado pieces are all fully covered with a thin layer of flour.

3. Dip the flour-covered avocadoes into a bowl of beaten egg quickly one at a time, making sure the avocadoes are all well covered by egg.

4. Roll these flour and egg covered avocadoes on a plate of panko breadcrumbs, making sure to cover all the surfaces.

5. Apply some olive oil on a baking sheet, and bake the avocadoes on this sheet at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 20 minutes. The baked avocado fries are ready when they are golden brown.

6. To make the aioli sauce, mix the greek yogurt, lemon, garlic and onion powder in a bowl.
